Fire eel gravel

is this gravel okay for fire eels?

I know alot of people do it but I personally will only use sand with any eel I have a 14in fire eel an he loves to dig and burrow and gravel can scratch and irritate there skin

Yes i figured i may as well stick with gravel for now since i dont want to completely disrupt the bacteria cycle i have just completed, maybe in a new tank when the eel and cichlids grow bigger.

more worried about the jagged rock in the pic then the gravel tbh. gravel looks like smooth roundish rocks.. which should be fine as long as you give the eels other safe places to hide like driftwood or pvc pipes.
