Im looking for other ideas on how to get or make a hiding spot for my 20" fire eel. Right now he has a 12" peice of hollow driftwood but thats not big enough any more. I want to find a new hollow peice of driftwood but don't know how to go about this. Anything else than a peice of pvc??
Heres a thread with recent video..

Edit: sorry for double post
internet lagged or something

I'm not sure about fire eels, but my peacock eel loves the plants. even though it has several "caves" it can hide in, it prefers thick plants it can go into.

Instead of using rigid PVC that you have to buy in 10' sticks + fittings if you want to curve it... I used a 4" Corrugated Drain Pipe Elbow. example -http://compare.ebay.com/like/250752640950?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar It was only $3-$4 at Lowes or Home Depot, one single elbow extends to 21", its flexible and holds the shape you bend it in, its lightweight, plus its black not a glaring white like PVC pipe. My fire eel loves it! Even my Jack Dempsey enjoys taking a swim through it. It blends in very well too, especially since I buried the bottom half in the gravel. Ill post a pic ASAP.
