would a fire eel be ok in hard water and higher ph, mid 7 to 8s?
providing it slowly aclimitises.

are they ok oh that sort of water?

what is their natural environment?

also, do you think a fire eel with tropheus cichlids would be ok?

If you are thinking of getting an eel for your Tangs you should invest in one from Lake Tanganyika. Mastacembelus elipsifer or M. plagoistoma are both Tanganyikan and would be ok with the water parameters. As for getting along with Tropheus I have no idea....check the African Cichlid forum

yes will be fine... my eel is around 5 years old and is 36" long or so. He has been living in well water that is very hard with a ph 8+

Trophs are algae scavangeing.. so they should be okay.. tbh I'de be more worried about the fire eating smaller fish once it gets larger.. as long as the PH/KH/GH are carefully acclimated to you shoudln't have an issue.. I kept mine in well water as well for a few years.. moved to city... they seems to tolerate many water perameters as long as they are acclimated carefully. I personally drip accimated mine w/out any issues.
