Fire eel missing scales.

My big fire eel had a few missing scales the other day I didn't think much of it but this morning he had more missing. Tank mates are 3 tinfoils, 5 clown loaches, 1 black aro and 2 young rays. Never any issues before. No heater in the tank. Could the loaches be nipping at him maybe when they jam in their pipe together?

I wasnt aware that those eels had scales...shows I'm not an eel guy lol.You just might be onto something with the loaches or the tinfoils could be the culprits.I'm inclined to rule out the aro because if it attacked there would probably be more of a visible wound.

They have very small scales. Its not a true eel, really an elongated fish. I'll post some pics when I get home.

Wow I never noticed that they had scales. They must be more noticeable the bigger they get. The injury doesn't look too serious though. Probably just getting scraped when he's trying to squeeze into a tight space.

Yea he's 30" and as thick as my arm. There isn't anything he could scrape on. I'm gonna add a larger hide for him and move the wood and smaller pipes.
