sorry for my english

I have a fire eel about 14 inches and she is not eating since 2 months (and never see her eating). She seems not healthy for the last two weeks. I tried frozen shrimps, live fishes, bloodworms and live blackworms. I lost another one that I didnt see her eating for 3 months!!!

I had one for 8 years and now, i think im cursed.

Any idea what to try?

i feed my 12 incher by hand blood worm and dew worms, both of wich he takes from hand. I would try hand feeding that way u know hes getting his share.

Have you tired night crawlers thats the only thing that mine will eat it's around 17" to 18"we've had him since he es about 12"

I bought a 12" fire eel almost three weeks ago that the previous owner never saw eating in more than 2 months after he got her. Since it was not skinny, I bought it.
After 17 days without (seeing it) eating at my place - tryed several types of worms, ghost shrimp (live and dead), etc - , two days ago there was a "clic" and suddenly it started eating (dead) ghost shrimps. Yesterday I saw it eating 9 or 10.
Sometimes it just takes time for them to get confident. Most likely yours is eating something when you´re not looking

Prazi-pro.. or another Internatal parasite wormer.. Sooner the better. the erratic movements and lack of eating sound like IP's.. and will kill her if left untreated. I've seen this a few times particularly with fires. 1/2 dos 1st day full dos second and third day... do not do anything but remove any carbon in the tank... do NOT add carbon back. wait approx 2 weeks.. should see signs of parasite expulsion ( lots of white stringy poop) before adding wormer do a massive water change... then after adding meds do not do a WC for 5-7 days.. as long as your water perameters stay healthy ( ie nitrates stay under 40-60ppm, ammonia/nitrites ) after 3-4 week carbon can be added back ( or a few big WC's have occured ot remove the meds.. you want the water change to remove them.. not the carbon) You can repeat this process every month for 3-6 months if needed. your better off undermedicating then over medicating.

'm assumeing your fire also doesn't look skinny? but if you look at the head above teh eyes will be indented? this is a good way to tell the "actuall" plumpness of most spineys.

Yes, fire eel look very skinny if I compare with when I bought it.

Finally, she eats the night crawler, but take only small chunk. Seems to be very happy and continues to search for this new happy meal! Do you think it still can be parasite? Never have good result with that kind of disease, except with the calamanus cotti.

If she's eating I would try beefing her up abit. But I would suggest worming her at some point. worms are very common in spineys. if she starst flashing and rubbing I would worm her even if she seems otherwise fine. it migth just be from emmaciatoin, and reguadless the better health she's in when you worm her the less stress on her system it will be. I would stick with nightcrawlers for the next month or 2, then try offering frozen foods such as krill once she bounces back. offer her as much as she will willingly eat 1x a day. at 14" she should be able to take down 1 large worm ( cut up) or more. so she may need to expand her stomach. once eating that, you can feed her to satation every few days ( I found this to work best w/ spineys) and to warn you ime worms =growth rate explosion
