My Fire eel will not eat anything but night crawlers. I've tried shrimp, talapia, krill, etc.. but the only thing it'll take are worms. I mean as long as it's eating I'm happy but anyone else have a stingy eel like this?

Yep, I am yet to witness my Fire Eel eat, it spends all day hiding in the weir but still seems to be growing.

My fire eel is the same way. It only wants to eat live or chopped worms. I feed it nightcrawlers and red wigglers mostly, but some times I'll crush up half a multivitamin and put it in with the red wigglers. Hopefully the vitamins and minerals will help make up for the lack of variety in it's diet.

I might try the old trick of chopping up worms with a new food. Supposedly they get used to the new food smelling like their old food and they start eating both. I haven't tried it but it could be cool if it worked.

Yes many eels act this way and will not take other foods there very strange about what they eat stuffing a few pellets in a worm is a good way to make sure they get plenty of nutrition

How in the tarnation you get some pellets in a worm! I need to actually see this feat! But do Tell your process!

Wal Mart usually has some in the fishing section or a bait store...

Thanks. I wasnt sure is those were safe to feed or not. My eel doesnt seem interested in frozen blood worms so I am going to try something else.
