Iv just bought a 25cm fire eel 2days ago hes swimming around the tank freely rarely hiding. before i bought him the store owner told me theyv had him in store for about 2 months now and have been feeding him frozen blood worms. problem is when i try to feed him. first attemp i hold the bloodworm cube in the water and waved he came up sniffed the ignored swam off, 2nd try i let the blood worm fall to the bottom of the tank he came and tryed to eat it but to me it looks like he wasnt able to swallow the bloodworm and spit it out he tryed 4 -5 times before giving up........*i have a really bad feeling about this...can someone help me or give me some tips

thanks

Most likely will need a few days to settle in properly. At that size it should be able to eat something larger. Try earthworms, red wigglers, ghostshrimp. Mine swims up and sticks his nose out of the water to get earthworms. Eats 3-4 in a row at about 14 inches.

Give it a few days. Sometimes they take a while. How are your water parameters and temperature compared to the shop you got him at.

i use to have 1 35+cm tire track i bought him when he was only 10cm he'd eat anything right away same as my friends one cause we bought them bough at the sametime. im guessing fire eels just more different

Mine has been very picky. First it was only bloodworms, then ghost shrimp, then red wigglers and now earthworms. My tiretrack hides more but will eat anything and is quickly outgrowing him.

my waters amo - 0 nitrate- 0 nitrite -5 ph - 7 tank size is 450L currently i have 1 borneo tiger 16cm 2x delhezi 15cm+ and the new fire eal. tanks been setup for about 8months now

1 thing i personaly noticed is that yes u are right tire tracks hide more but settles in fast and eats almost anything my old TT was a pig like my delhezis lol
