Anyways before I get into it my tank has been very strange for awhile now. I have residing in it 2 severums, a datnoid, a pike cichlid and an arowana. They are all perfectly healthy, eating and happy.

The problem is whenever i attempt to add a fish, they -always- get sick and die. They get this strange eye covering on them and they begin to lay around and not eat. I thought I solved the problem after a couple of water changes and filter changes so I took a risk and purchased a fire eel for the tank. Everything was fine but next day he has the same white film that completly covers his eyes to the point he can't see. And his body is sort of turning white.

Today has been my 2nd day treating with melafix for it, but it hasen't been helping. I don't understand why this happens whenever I add something new while all my other fish are in perfect condition. It's seriously driving me crazy. :nilly:

What are your water parameters? pH, hardness, temp? I keep my three at 6.5 pH, GH around 7, and temp at 80. Also, melafix can actually increase slim coat production. If you suspect he has a bacterial infection, the best way i have patched up my big guy was injecting earthworms with Gel Tek. I would recommend Ampicillin as it is a broad spectrum antibiotic that treat both gram negative and gram positive bacteria. By injecting it into the earthworms, you don't have to worry about killing off your biological filtration. Also, I LOVE the Ultra Cure PX as it really does a fabulous job with internal parasites. Its the only thing that I have ever had success with when treating my discuss for hex.
