I'm sure this has been asked before, and I have searched but get varying answers, so...

Can a fire eel live happily in a 180us gallon tank for life? he would be with 2 Oscars, 1 large pleco, 1 small pleco, 3 big tinfoils and 2 limas.

How does this sound?

Fabulous if he doesn't get picked on. You have to be careful with plecos and eels as they will sometimes suck on the eel. My 24" incher is in a 180 and can really get going in there.

Thanks for the reply.

My pleco is maybe 18inchs long and so far hasnt shown signs of sucking on any fish in the, maybe 8 years with the tinfoils and oscars so I would hope he wouldnt start now.

But assuming worse case scenario, I would provide, or am toying with the idea of tubing around the back of the tank etc so the eel could escape and go where the pleco cant.

Would this be a solution should the pleco suddenly decide to be an ass :grinno:

Not one for sale but check the marketplace,I think it will be ok but alot of your fish are bottom dwellers...And that might be an inconvenience

Yeah good point, I'll have to keep an eye on that.
