I have a fire eel that is currently about 14 inches. I've been looking at some pictures of tire track eels on this site. I know that fire eels can reach 3 feet in the aquarium much like tire track eels. I want to know if fire eels grow to the same thickness as tire track eels as well. I like the sight of a filled out eel.

Yeah they get to the same length and girth. The only difference (other than obviously the genetic difference) that I know of between the two species is their coloration.

hmm yea agreed with comments above but if you ask me id rather have a
peacock eel
fire eel
tiretrack eel

A fire eel will get 36". i will get just as thick as the tire track eel

Seems to me that from what Ive seen it is fire eels that tend to be thicker once the get to that monster size.

Had to search, but here is a pic of a 36" fire eel I took at Denver's Downtown Aquarium. This was 3 tears ago, they had two and both were thick. My TT is 32" and doesn't have anywhere near this much girth.

3-5 yrs or more generally. The 30" + range seem to be 5yrs + Mine are about 2yrs old now and the smallest is 16" the largest 24" eyeballing them.
