Fire eel with large white spot

I have a fire eel in my 55 gallon tanks that has developed a large white spot on his body over the past 24 hours. The water tests out clean, but we've only had this tank for 60 days and we're still learning about best practices to keep our fish healthy. We're very worried about the eel.


We added aquarium salt and Melafix from API last night.

Metafix description:

• All natural antibacterial treatment
• Heals open wounds and abrasions
• Treats tail rot, eye cloud, & mouth fungus
• Promotes re-growth of damaged fin rays and tissue

Anyone recognize this disease and/or have suggestions? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Could be it. Salt and clean water will clear it up. Also cover the heater if not covered.

I noticed bumps on my fire eel... seems to be inside the skin rather than outside...

Anyone knows why?

Thanks for the heater suggestion, never thought about that as a possibility and he was hanging out near the heater recently.
