I came home from a week's vacation to find my husband's fire eel with white spots aaall over it (husband is gone for months so I'm looking for help). It hadn't eaten all week. It ate the earth worms I fed it upon my return. It's living in a 120 gallon tank with 2 rope fish, 1 ornate?, other long narrow shaped fish, 1 elephant face, 1 ghost knife, 2 (though I remember having 3 when we left!) african clawed frogs, and 5 silver dollars. The heater broke while we were away and the the temperature is now around 78 C. Given this info, can anybody help me out? I might be able to get the names of the other fish if it's important. I appreciate any assistance.

Its probably ick... Tryt o get another heater and bump up the temp to about 86 degree. You can add some rid-ich or salt. TAke out any carbon from your filter if you planning to used rid-ick. DO a water change after couple of day. HSould go away in about a wekk or so.. hope this help

Have a look online for pictures of ich just incase it is not that. There are a few things that can be confused with it.
However ich is quite common and the advice smokin says is 'spot' on. Salt/ich meds and raise the temp.
Also note you can only kill ich in one stage of it's life cycle, which is when it is mobile in the water. So you may think the fish are OK as the spots have gone but they are just getting ready for round two.

what they said..but do as many water changes as u can 25-50 % every 1-2 days,
use that stress coat stuff too, because the treatment will stress the fish out
