Well, it's been awhile since i kept my last one, but I bought the first one (about 3 inches), and he lived for about 2-3.5 weeks. that night i put in some thawed frozen bloodworms, but didnt see him eat. the next day he has a bulge in his stomach and he starts thrashing around and soon dies. So my mom and dad got me a new one (around 4 inches) and he died within 3 days, and that night, i gave him bloodworms and he died the next morning.

i havent kept them since but I did my research and when i get my 125 and make it brackish for my columbian sharks, i would like to keep another one with them.

they were in a 26 gallon with 1 weather loach and 1 red tailed black shark.
please help.

thanks

what do you want help with? there are no questions in your post. If you want my opinion I say let the fire eels live and go with something else.

just hand fed him he will eat eventually. sometime you have to starve them first then they will eat.

im not going to get anymore. but i just want to know why they died right after the blood worms?

Not sure why they died. Could be a sick batch from your lfs or could be your water parameters. I just got mines (3") over a week now and it's getting fat on hand fed blood worms.

ye, probably just bad luck. cuz the tank they went in was fine :irked:

try live earth worms or raw shrimp, that's what mine eats and i've had him for almost 2 years. It will also need at least one place to hide. Some aquarium salt wouldn't hurt. Mine is in a planted tank with ph 6.5 / soft water / temp 79F. Also, i wouldn't put it in brackish since it will be sold as fw.
