i just recently (like 2 days ago) purchased a fire eel, hes already about 8 inches, however, since ive had him he will not eat, i tried bloodworms, he didnt touch them, i had been told that they are more active at night so i fed at night and turned lights off, still wouldnt eat, then i tried live ghost shrimp , i added about 20 and found most of them dead that following evening, is it just because hes getting used to the new tank or am i doing somting wrong, his tank mates are doing the same thing, and they are a B ghost knife and 2 cory cats

refer to the eel board.. alot of info for you there on feeding, care, ect.

try frozen krill and give him a few days let him get use to the tank.

And my suggestion is to go to the bait shop, and get some earthworms, not pan fish worms. cut them into 2" or so peices. and drop them infront of him. mine refused everything the first week I had him and I was set to lose him when a few people reccomended the earthworms. and they worked like a charm.

Though if the other fish are acting oddly. first check your water perameters to rule out water quality. are the fish gasping at all? this could mean low O2 levels. and reduce or compleately turn them off to feeding. Make sure their are lots of hideing spots and the bgk and eel are very shy when first introduced into a tank and need some settleing in time.

I've also used live blackworms to stimulate feeding in these fish as they are all wild caught yet to my knowledge.

i bought the worms, he ate one worm, and then went into his pvc pipe, i also tried some sinking shrimp pellets, the corys bgn and eel didnt even look at them, the perameters are fine, altho i need to do a water change cause with the food i have been experimenting with the amonia has risen just slightly, but nothng that would casue them stress,

thanks for the advice everyone, i was just trying to make sure he didnt die ;) ive never had a problem like that, ususally of the fish i keep are fat asses, i curently have a TSN, a 8'' Oscar and an 10'' JD and they never stop eating lol

Great to hear he's eating for you! You're gonna love the personality
