do u think $65 is a good price for a 13" fire eel? :nilly:It a little to much for my bill.

It's all based on supply and demand.... that's a bit high for around HERE but almost every store here stocks fire eels. I paid $20 for my 9". If it looks healthy, and they have it eating frozen food, offer them $50. They have upkeep to worry about too...

yeah i am going to trade in a pair of fish for store credit.

paid 80 for mine and it was 12 inches and I saw it eat. was at the store for 3 weeks so I knew it was healthy so I considered it worth the price.

the other store that could get them in charged 70+ for 12+ inch ones but they would be just ordered in and it wasn't worth the 10 bucks for a stressed out eel.

I agree. Around here $65 probably wouldn't be too bad of a price (they're sold for $20 at ~3" around here).

yeah i am going to go and see if i can get them to get the price to $50.

And you will not be disappointed! My fire eel, Apollo, has so much personality it is amazing. I put in a P. ansorgii and they are best friends. Seriously, they even hunt together and swim around together when I put in live blackworms. Neither of them have scratches or any kind of marks so I know they don't fight when I am not home. (Thank god).

For reference where I live its hard to find a place that has em (very few LFS left within a reasonable distance). I got mine for $19 at 5-6 inches. He was the only one left and they only get about 10 a month. But, holy crap do they grow fast. He is averaging about 1-1.5 inches a month right now. He is kissing 12 inches currently.

He also comes out every time I walk near the tank and will even follow my finger along the glass. I feed him by hand so water changes can get annoying since he will always attack my hand for food. Recently he even comes out and "dances" when I get ready to feed him.

Hope you get him and you will enjoy him very much!
