I was considering getting a fire eel recently but my friend got one a while ago and it ended up dying out of nowhere. He had a slightly brackish tank and he acclimated appropriately. Could someone help me out and let me know if the do not tolerate salt well. And what do they normally eat? Thank you

Mine eats shrimps and prawn 2-3 Times a day, I really don't know why your friend would put a fire eel in a brackish tank.. I really don't

They can eat tubeflex worms or frozen worms. And nothing bigger. I keep mine in freshwater... No experience with brackish tho

Had mine for years in fresh. About three to four inches when I got him and over two foot now. Ate blood worms only when small, graduated to red wigglers, ghost shrimp, earthworms and now market shrimp. Never heard of anyone keeping them in brackish.
