any1 have one of these?? my lfs has some and i was wondering if they could live confortably in a 30 long for life.

I don't think so, they get 3 ft long.

That's not derailing. My fire eel went from 4" to one foot in under one year.

Probably for a few years, but eventually it will need something bigger. BTW, spiny eels in general do best as loners, unlike true eels. Speaking from experience with these fish. You should look into Gymnothorax Tile... I'm a big fan.. similar size though.

Since they don't move that much, I would say 120. 180 would be great if you had one. Then again, why would you ever get a 120 when you could get a 180?
