I have been told that they appear in shops from time to time,
Can anyone confirm that we can get them in oz.

Not that i'm a local Aussie, but from what little i have seen from the trips i've been on to Melbourne / Sydney, there doesn't seem to be too many "exotic" F/W fish at the LFS'...

I'm guessing its most likely due to quarantine + banning of a lot of species due to the fact they would most likely thrive in Australian waters if they were released by careless keepers...

most of the cool stuff is banned for that reason , the government released cane toads and i cant have a fire eel the irony.

^ I always knew Australia was strict with import laws and stuff like that from when i was studying/living there... so i guess in a sad way its no surprise you can't find too many exotics, even though in essence it would be easier to ship considering how close it is to all the neighboring countries where a lot of these fish come from...

But with that all being said, would it be possible that you could get some sort of license or permit to keep one you think? (since i never looked into this), coz if you could, then maybe you could have one shipped over some how???

^ damn thats expensive... i got mine for under $10USD and hes almost 2ft long...
