Well, I have finally got my 220 up and running. My fire eels ended up spending about 8-9 months in my 29 instead of the 1-2 months I was planning on. In that time they grew from about 4" to about 10-11". So, here's some pictures.

I put the fake plants from their other tank into the 220 for now, so that they have some cover. Eventually, I plan on adding some nice driftwood and some live plants. I'm hoping to get a nice big Amazon sword as a centerpiece.

They are going to be happy in their new home

How do they get on with each other at that size?
Do they spend most of the day buried or out and about?

So far, they don't do too bad with each other. Usually they hang out together in hiding spots the whole day. However, during feeding, the larger one does pick on the smaller one a bit to drive him away from the food. The smaller one still usually muscles in and gets plenty though.

They don't really dig into the sand much. Honestly, they never really did other than a few times when they were much younger or when occasionally when they got scared during a water change. During the day they mostly hang out in hiding places, like in the pictures above. Then, in the evening, which is their feeding time, they come out and start to swim around in the open. When they would see me come into the room that the 29 is in they would come up to the front of the tank and start wiggling with excitement for their food. Lol

That's different to my two. As soon as food is in the water, they take hardly any notice of each other. I'm in process of getting them a bigger tank to lessen their disagreements.

How much do you feed them?

I have about a 16 inch tire track eel in my 220 and it's a digger. Never see it either except for it's nose, it's always under a rock.

I had them up to one cube of frozen bloodworms and 5-6 whole red wigglers about every other day. They devour everything. Right now they are getting settled so they are not eating much in the 220 but once they get started eating well again I will probably feed them the same thing but every day for a while.
