Hey guys, I'm facing wildfire evacuation with one fire 2 miles down blocking my main entrance, 2 fires now burning on my 4x4 backup. They may get the fire under control but response take hours. I'm locked in but there's no way they're gonna take my aro outta here, they'll drop flame retardant on the house. So how do I batten down the hatches so to speak and keep by aro safe if it turns this way. I think it will be heat, wind, smoke but fire line is good. I'll try to get back on here for your input. thanks.

Perhaps you should unplug the bublers/filters to prevent a CO2 enrichment of the water. Cover tanks for the same reason?

I sincerely hope you'll live.

I would say cover the tanks with some dampened blankets. I don't knowmuch about fires but that makes sense to me. Good Luck I'll be praying for you!

how long will a 19" silver in a 75 g tank be OK without o2 or power? I'm stuck, can't leave but the fire that is closest is getting under control, so I get to wait it out. The lightning keeps striking and starting new fires.

I read 2 miles down, so i figure you are still far from the main flames? also, what do you mean by the 4x4 backup? if worse comes to worse, i would save my life first, then whatever is priority. as for the fish, if you have time to take it with you when the fire is almost to consume your home, but it would be the last thing on my mind. First me, then family, then important papers, then pets :) if you have time, memorabilia as well. I hope our brave firefighters could control that blaze. i would hate to be in their shoes in this heat...yershck!

Shouldn't that list be:
Me
Family
Pets
Papers?

Important papers can be replaced (in most cases)...

I'd hate to grab the deed to my house before my dog...

I have a fireproof safe for guns and whatever, don't care about much more than me and my pets. (That is my family) The closest fire is under control. The other 3 should be easy now that the USFS got a plane out here. Little hairy. Smoky but OK, I can't imagine going up in a helicopter leaving my animals behind. This is a way of life here I guess it happens often, just not bad since I've lived here .

Thanks for your ideas, they're welcome for future incidents. :flamed: :FIREdevil :asianarow

So you lived! Good!
tanks should be fine without power or anything for around 24-70 hours. It all depends on fish and water conditions. I have a tank where a Crenicichla chases around a carp all day long. They create more water movement than the bubbler and the filter.

Glad you lived!!!!

Also, hear anything more from rottbo and the Black Arowana???

Thanks!!!!

Post up pics!!!!
