Fire fish project.
I have what I would call.
A firefish, a strawberry, and a dragons blood, African Cichlid. All different variants.

I got them all as probable males, but they were all females.

Then I have an some well mannered
Dragons bloods x Acei mbuna crosses. About a year ago, that are going to be the base of the project.

This thread will document the fish.

20171017_120432.jpg Blue fin, as a juvenile, with Tulip , the female strawberry dragons blood, it harasses males. So I introduced him as a immature juvenile .
20171016_194236.jpgTheir #2 fry. It is too difficult to catch mom, but some of the fry venture into the algea scrubber, and are trapped, for easy netting.

The two fish on the left are 50/50 Acie x dragons bloods females. Some of their nephews look like as juviniles.20170818_201710.jpg

This is blue fins brother, spawning with, Beauty. She has spawned about 7 times solo. This is the first time with a another fish. Happened last night. Their were 3 males in the tank. All trying to attract her. He definitely encouraged her. Quite the lesson in fish behavior.20171017_183525.jpg
The fish Tulip, is a female. She became very aggressive during the spawning. Chasing Beauty and causing chaos.

Hopefully she will carry the eggs to term, and not eat them all in a week.

20171018_174847.jpgA self cleaning, fry tank simplified, the hassles alot. Normally I don't deliver fry until 4 weeks after spawning. This fish "Beauty," is a peacock, mbuna hybrid.
She has always chased males off, and laid eggs by here self. This time I had her with 5 males, with only two other females. The males are all young, and smaller. Big females are very able to intimidate an over rambunctious
Male.
I probably have 5 % fertilized by my 50/50 Acie male. He was mostly trying to spawn with another female, that he thought was ready to spawn.

The two males, never fought, just chased each other out of the "nest. " The yellow lab the 3rd male. Was not really interested.

20171017_180247.jpgBlue fins , and 50/50 Acie. Guarding the nest. The fish in the back kept the 50/50 acei occupied.
