I have a 37 gallon tank with a fire mouth cichlid, and i was wondering if i could keep an african clawed frog with it. Would the frog eat it? would the fire mouth eat the frog?
As long as it's a African clawed, and not dwarf African clawed it could work. The frog should be the smallest of the two because frog can, and will swallow cichlid if Firemouth can fit in it's mouth.
It is not an overly aggressive firemouth. The only fish I've seen it ear are zebra danios and neon tetras, which probably should not have been in a tank with it in the first place.
No I wouldn't keep them together. The frog might not eat your FM right away but it will always be trying. An ex of mine had a pair of these frogs and the female was forever trying to eat the smaller male. She managed it in the end too. She also ate a good sized apple snail whole. Amphibians and fish should be kept separate.
