I was at a local pet store and saw a firemouth cichlid (maybe 2 inches) in with some 4+ inch convict cichlids that pretty much completely ate the firemouth's fins. I picked up the firemouth for half price (so I got him for $4) and I currently have him in a 2 gallon bucket for quarantine before I add him in with my dwarf pike in a 29. I'd like to know how long do you think it'll take him to reach 4-5 inches and how long do you think it'll take for his fins to grow back? His pectoral and pelvic fins are gone and his caudal and anal fins are pretty badly damaged. He also may or may not have ich, it's a bit hard to tell. Currently I have him in the bucket and I'm dosing with cupramine and just trying to keep the water clean and give him some food and I'm sure he'll be fine. Note he is also swimming fine too, doing %50 water changes daily

Watching to learn growth rate as well. I have a group of 7 a month now.

I'm just glad I could get him out of there, he wasn't going to make it much longer in there, maybe a few more days. Sure he may not have an ideal life in a 120+ gallon south american cichlid tank, but he is going to be alive and taken well care of in my 29 instead of being nipped to death in a 10 gallon tank at deathco

What kind of pike will it be joining?
I have 6 and 2 T. pasiones ( the yellow thoricythsis ) in a 55 for about 6 months now.
There’s just an ac 70 or filtration and I do like 20% weekly WC.
They’ve grown rather quickly from ya 1”-4.5” for the largest in that time. I Only feed at night.
They also live with a few black ghost knifes .(growing them out for another tank) and they ignore each other’s group

That will be cool!
The only dwarf I wouldn’t mix them with is proteus. IME those are nasty for dwarfs
