think it will be ok to house a jd and firemouth that are both 2inches together for awhile?

It should work. You'll probably see some aggression, but that's normal.

I have 2 firemouths with a Jack Dempesy and they get along rather well.

Depends, firemouths like to test the aggression of other fish. For example...My 3" FM flares at a 5" Male Black convict.. The convict could kick his ass in a second, but is tolerable of the FM. My FM also flares my 6" jag.. So, imo they got more bark than bite, just gotta be careful, some fish do see that as a threat and will go after the FM. At the same time, individuals are different. As for JD's temperment, I've never had one, and couldn't vouch for em. Hope that helped somewhat.

Just make sure when the JD gets big to separate them.

ya that helps. I don't know much on the fm so thats helpful. The jd on the other hand i know holds his own and is the least of my worries. i was more worried of the fm. tyty

wow after one day the jd is all over the firemouth. I thought that would be the case. they are in a tank with bigger cichlids but i think they will be ok. here are pics

They should be fine. Add more pots/decorations if it gets troublesome.

I've had my FM and JD for over a year and they are fine they leave each other alone
