I believe its a male. They have more red on them and more elongated points on their find in comparison to females

the color and fins arent always the best way to tell the sex. i had a pair that looked exactly the same. fins and colors arent the best way to sex firemouths , i would say venting it is the best way to sex it. besides how your going to say that when the fish's colors are washed out.

+1 there is is no way you can 100% accurately sex a firemouth cichlid based on the way it looks. it must be vented to know 100% what the sex is. Anybody who tries is just guessing.
