my firemouth was in a tank about 4 months ago with a 5'' jd and a 3'' jd the firemouth was 3'' then and the bigger jd was always picking on him , when i rescued them they were in a 15 gallon tank
they were put into my 80 gallon, the question i have is where the firemouth was ripped up his back fin was separated into 2 separate fins , all his other battle wounds have healed up great in the last 2 months the only thing is that his back fins are still in 2 separate fins
hes doing great , eating regularly , swims fine with the other fish now and gets along with the bigger jd as he has his space now , will his back fin ever bind into one again

heres some pics (look at the back fin)

Do you have more recent pics? Those look to have been taken a year and a half ago:D

Seems that this case it will continue to have the split tail, seems to me most tails and fins heal quite quickly

Eventually, it will grow out together, but it takes a long, long time...though it does look like it goes pretty far to where the fin meets the body...in which case, it might always be split. My Firemouth looks just the same from a bout with my Convict. It won't hurt his swimming ability.

Thanks for the replys
