Hey guys, I got a small firemouth about 2-2.5" last week and it won't eat when I'm around, even bloodworms o.o While the new dwarf gourami I bought today started eating like mad... My firemouth is always hiding and is not sick, he is active and swims around very fast when frightened... Would appreciate anyone who helps :)

Thanks

Sounds to me like he just needs some time to get acclimated to his new environment. Does he eat when you leave the room, or not at all?

Mine took a day or two before getting used to its new environment. Once established, it should eat with conviction, they are voracious. Except the gourami, what other fish are in with it ?

You can try starving for a few days if he doesn't start eating or try putting in some dithers to make him want to fight for food.

It's frustrating but common for a fish to not up to a week when introduced to a new environment. As long as he's responsive and alert he'll eventually come around and eat. Try soaking the food in garlic...garlic is suppose to stimulate appetite and its very good for their immune system!
