I bought 3 firemouths 2 days ago and 2 are hiding and one is just laying on the sand. Is this normal?

Might wanna get that one outta there. It isn't really normal for any fish to be "laying" anywhere. Except maybe a catfish.

the two hiding is normal...in fact unless they were raised on flakes or pellets good luck on getting them eat them at the top of the water. i have had mine for two months he is loving ghost shrimp and only eats flakes when they sink to the bottom...also if they are large enough you can put really small cray fish mine is just starting to eat the cray with out hesitation and no damage to the fish. good luck on the one that is "laying"

What exactly do you mean by "laying"? Fish sometimes lay against something when they are sleeping. But if you mean, the fish is literally "Laying on it's side", then that's not a good thing.

Do you mean just resting on the gravel bed "rightside up" or do you mean "laying on it's side"? If it's the latter, it's not a good sign.

That's funny because my firemouths eat at the top of the water every single day, they push off convicts and a jack dempsey to ensure that they are always the first ones fed every day. Also they eat ANYTHING that i feed them, flakes, krill, brine shrimp, blood worms, earth worms, but they never lay at the bottom of the tank either!!

well...i dont know if this helps at all....but......I eat guppies.....in my orange juice.....they swim around and then I drink them up....and then they swim in my stomach....
