so i have a "gas" fireplace...... but keeping the pilot lit 24/7 for the next 3months costs too much....... i decided to get some real firewood...... my question is if there is a danger of the fire running back into the pilot even if the gas is off?

If there is no small ammount of gas seeping from the pilots then all should be well. How well does this unit warm your space?

it really depends upon how much wood i use..... seems to keep the den cozy..... problem is that it has wood floors and bad insilation so it cools down fast.......

Make sure the soot and ash from the wood does not clog up the pilots.

Does your fireplace have a chimney? Our fireplace is gas operated and has no chimney...
