How big do they get and how fast do they grow? I can't seem to find any information on their maximum growth, let alone their rate of growth. Also, how big of a tank do they usually need? Their bodily dimensions are very awkward, I feel like a circular pond would be more reliable in this case.

Get big and grow fast. If that’s enough clarity then maybe this will help.

***Over 5 feet.

and how fast do they grow?
***in good care 1.5"-3" a month on average in the first couple years

I can't seem to find any information on their maximum growth, let alone their rate of growth.
***they are very hard to raise

Also, how big of a tank do they usually need?
Very big, for a 5 footer I'd say 20'x20' is the least

Their bodily dimensions are very awkward, I feel like a circular pond would be more reliable in this case.
***agree with your hunch. They usually break their snout, upper jaw, badly in almost all hobbyist tanks sooner or later.

Rpuls in my care has grown very fast id say the 1.5" to 3" a month but it bearly slows down like other cats do as they age. They dont stop. They also need to be fed alot more compared to other cats. Id say daily with one day left out a week.otherwise there stomachs go inwards. Id say 20' x 8'. Not overly active and there all tail other than there huge wide heads.rpuls didnt travel to well but once settled as hardy as any other fish. Heard theres alot of losses when there small but ive no experience in them. There not my cup of tea but can see there appeal
