Hey guys just finished my first build with help/ideas from previous threads. This pond is 8x4x3 with a DIY filter. Inhabitants will be a 13" RTC 8" TSN 9" Gar and hopefully some 6-10" peacock bass in the future. Right now the pond is cycling with a largemouth bass and a cichlid. Any feedback will be appreciated since im still a newbie in fish keeping. Thanks

I like your diy filter...very nice.....what did you use in each tier??

Cool. Since you're skilled, may I suggest to incorporate the filter with the pond? Like conceal it maybe make an enclosure to make it blend together and less noticeable. It will look better IMO. Good idea on the DIY filter. Thanks for sharing.

Good start....

If you are planning on enclosing the filter, make a chase for the plumbing on the top rail and place the pump opposite of the the filter for a little extra water movement. You might be able to get a little bigger pump once the fish start growing and producing more waste down the road.

What size wood did you use? Are you not worried about bowing since no center brace?

Looks like 2"x6". I wouldn't worry about bowing those especially since he is using a liner.

Also I'd suggest moving the pump to the opposite side of the tank from the filter/return. You'll get better crossflow.

Sent from my mind to my fingers to my phone to the MFK servers to you

Curtis, I'm looking at building a indoor pond in my garage for my RES turtles. Looking at something at the 600g area, would you say I wouldn't need bracing or different structure for it (I can use 2x6) with out worrying or it matters on the demension of it?
