While i hope i don't have to use it, it is always a nice thing to have...so what do you guys recommend to have in a first aid kit for fish?

aquarium salt, a backup heater(better to use 2 small ones than 1 large one incase 1 breaks) pima and melafix, aquarium silicone, a hosptal tank or clean rubbermaid tote, extra filter media, a python or generic waterchanger, a master test kit(an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure) stress coat/dechlorination, a backup air pump with check valves, extra airstones, and if your area is prone to power outages, a generator will keep you and your fish happy. If a generator is out of your budget, you could buy a power inverter for a vehicle and use a car as a generator. make sure you get appropriate wattage.

your ready for anything lol. i would only add one thing to that list. spare peace of glass to fix a crack.

a spare piece of glass can be useful, however I would not use glass in the event of a crack. I would mix 2 part epoxy and use that to fill/seal the crack. 2 part 5 minute epoxy is incredibly strong, rated at or past 1,000 pounds per square inch. only problem with using it on glass is you'd have to take some gritty sandpaper and rough the area up, wipe it down with an alcohol wipe for a clean, strong surface to bond to.

This prima and melafix..i have seen that mentioned again and again..
Is it really that good?..and what do you use it for?
we don't have it here in Japan, but if it is worth the money i might order some from the states.

I don't think of tank repair as first aid but other than that I aggree with all of the recomendations but I would add a bottle of clove oil in case you need to put a fish down painlessly.
