Hello,
I have decided to have a bash at a Plywood aquarium. Nothing huge but (L)238cm X (H)80cm X (D)58cm. It will have a single glass viewing panel somewhere in the region of 2m long and 60cm high (ideally higher but depends on glass costs). I am planning on using 18mm Plywood and plenty of fibreglass. I am in the very early stages of planning and am just trying to get my head around a few things.
Currently I am struggling to work out how much of an overlap I need in the front panel with the glass and ply/fibreglass in contact?
The front will be exposed (ie not sunk in a wall) so I had thought about using architrave made into a picture frame type arrangement. Would the mitred corners be to weak? Most tanks I have seen use a single piece of ply with a whole cut in it.
I am sure this may be the first of many questions as I have been inspired by some of the builds on here but I am a complete noob...
Thanks in advance
Andrew
