First attempt with natives

I have a 75 gallon planted tank with 35 gal sump, its empty now so im thinkin about tryin natives. I want to do 2 pumpkin seeds and a yellow perch or one pumpkin and one perch, just curious if this would work. Thanks

I wouldn't keep a perch unless you have a pond or will upgrade tanks. They do better in 6 foot tanks. A pair of pumpkin seeds would do great though

I have kept Pumpkinseeds and perch in my 72 gallon bowfront, in my experience the yellow perch get too big and too aggressive to be kept with sunfish after awhile. I keep them till they get to about 6-8" then they go into the pond, You wont be able to have minnows in the tank with yellow perch but the pumpkinseeds are fine with minnows.

my perch were mean sob's they need a bigger tank then that but rest sounds cool

pumpkinseed's are awesome ^_^

normally its 2 per 55g...you might get away with 3 in a 75, or two and a few minnows....sculpin are always awesome.

Will probably just do the two pumpkinseeds then, no more. I prefer the look of an understocked tank, and dont want to run the chance of high aggression in the tank. Thanks for the advice - perch is definitely out.

^ i like your idea, plus with pumpkinseeds you can stock some minnows and etc with them.

You can stock large minnows with them, like the larger shiners or fallfish, but the smaller ones usually and eventually will get eaten in my experience
