had to setup up my 2 albino axolotl's in a new tank as soon as i saw they were being picked on...so i ran out and got what i figure to be the basic material for a plant tank...

comments are welcome...

Not really plants I would pick for a smaller setup. The madagascar lace and amazon swords get quite large. A guy at a fish auction I went to in Akron said that he had a madagascar lace that took up the majority of a 75 gallon tank. The axolotles look nice on the black substrate though.

Give us more info about your set up. What kind of substrate is that? Lighting? DOsing any fertilizers? I could recommend you some plants but would need to know more about your set up. Looks good though, but as said, those swords get really large.

Setup:

24 gal nano with stock PC lighting
sand substrate
no dosing (just started the tank)
around 76 degree

Consideration:

Thinking about going to metal halides...;)

Just keep the water cool and your lace plant will stay good. Mine didnt get happy when it would get to 78 and above.

good to know thanks...just playing around with other tanks after keeping large fish

no MH please. It would be an overkill

Remember that a metal halide on a tank that size would need a co2 system.

so the increase in lighting will increase in co2 consumption I assume...
