here are some pictures of my first attempt at a planted tank. let me know what you think. it is a ninety gallon Geophagus red head tapajos tank. my substrate is PFS I am dosing with seachem flourish twice per week. have not used any root tabs yet to this point. do you think I should? I recently moved a couple plants and they had 6-8" of roots come out with them and this tank has only been up and running for a little over a month. it seems like I am getting good growth out of everything in the tank except my java fern which is wedged in cracks and holes in the driftwood. I have toyed with the idea of CO2 but want to stay away from that as long as I can. anyways I thought I was getting some great growth out of this system and wanted some feedback from the pros. Thanks in advance! BTW I recently picked up a zoo med aqua sun T5HO 2 bulb light. I am currently running one zoo med ultra sun bulb, and one zoo med flora sun bulb. any feedback on my lighting is welcome as well.

I agree.

A couple of your plants are planted a little too deep. The crown of the plant should be just above the surface of the sand. Otherwise, the tank looks good.

by the crown what do you mean? can I just pull them up slightly to the correct position or do I need to pull them out and re-plant them? <----(dumb question! LOL)

update: I just purchased seachem root tabs. Ill put them in tonight and pull my plants up a little to get the crown out of the sand as soon as someone tells me what the crown is. LOL
