Took a break from all fish 4 years ago ... The bug hit me again and bought a $100 betta off aquabid and that got me going again ... within 2 months had 3 Betta tanks 3 gallon or under , then a 65 planted , then month later a 56 gallon grow out tank ...... Then went to a petshop i have not been to in a long time Gerbers Tropical (More fish wholesaler open to public than true fish shop) And they had a fish i wanted for the last 10 years off and on a Oxydoras Niger a fairly big one at 24" ( i wish he was smaller to save my pocket book ) but he's very nice looking kinda in the had to have him mode ounce i saw him so had to buy a tank big enough to put him in... I ended up going with 180 gallon .. it's nice but not good enough for a fish already as long as the tank is wide ... so been saving and also plan to use my income tax refund should be a good one this year to buy a larger tank that could more comfortable hold him at least 3 feet wide and no longer than 6 feet long ( weird basement limitations ) if i don't find something on MFK will have one made at 6 feet long 4 feet wide 2 feet tall ... but while i was trying to rack my brain how get this fish i thought maybe i start the tank with easier to house tank companion . I have always liked Peacock Bass in particular (Temensis & Azuls). I put a WTB on MFK and was contacted about a large Temensis for sale after a series of text decided to buy him. Left Church early and went to indianapolis to pick him up. Josh said he was 20 to 23 " got there and he was thankfully little smaller 18.5" long very nice fish got him home no real issues .. Enough talkie on with pic's and vids sorry for long drawn out story

Oxydoras Niger that got me Big Fish Crazy again .....

Tank he came out of ..
Temensis Peacock Bass ...

So would I and did you notice if Gerbers still has those huge paroon sharks?

They had those paroons a couple weeks ago when I was there. Made me sick seeing some of their small bins they keep stuffed with giant pacu, cats etc.

Thanks for answering, which big cats did they have that were crammed....the usual suspect RTCs?

Rtc, nigers, several others. The tanks the op posted were ok but the bins below them were disgusting

I owe those two... I have 9 bettas in total and he's the only one over $10 i work part time at a jack's pets btw ... just missed being around fish

No I get it trust me everyone on MFK is addicted and spends way too much money on things. First fish I ever actually bred were beta fish. I was like 8 years old got two in a divider a male and female and took it out one day and the next week my dad( crazy fish hobbiest) told me that's a bubble nest.
