First Big TSN In my 250; ID?

Get this, some guy bought a small tsn at a lfs about a year ago for $30. he came back today to return it, who got it for $30? :) haha i love that stuff. Anyways hes in my 250 gallon tank by himself, half the tank is decorated and the side hes on isnt so please dont tell me the tanks ugly im working on it. Anyways, can you help me find out the exact species this is? and any advice from experience is greatly appreciated.

my sig will help you a little.

But my one major advice is sharp noises or sudden noises cause them to kamakazie straight into the side of the tank. I was lucky many others have had them die from it.
 
The common ones are tigrinum, fasciatum, and recticulatum. All others are quite rare and it is not a given they are all separate species: this chart is from one well-known revision of the Pseudoplatystoma genus that recognized 8 species. The other well known revision recognizes only 4. Some of the 8 could be regional variants or subspecies... or indeed separate species.

Scientists will have to agree first before we, the hobbyists, can hope to gain any clarity... both of which processes will take a while.

Anyways, yours is, IMHO, either a tigrinum or a fasciatum.
