I have a striped raphael and a spotted one. I've had the spotted one for about 2.5 years and the striped one for about six months.
Both are about the same size, maybe 3". The striped one was tiny when I got him, about half that size, so he caught up with the spotted one.
The spotted raphael is a hardy little sucker. He burned himself quite badly on my heater once, but healed. He's also missing a pectoral fin. Not sure how that happened, but it doesn't slow him down.
I never see mine eat, but they're both really fat, so they're certainly getting enough. I put bloodworms and beefheart in my tank for my ripsaw, so they get the scraps.
I used to put carnivore pellets in there, but they rarely ate them.
For the reasons above, I'd recommend frozen bloodworms, krill and brine. I wouldn't recommend pellets.
