Been studying and working on this tank for a while now and I've finally got my first cichlids in! Right now it's got a pleco, angelica catfish, and three small dragonblood peacocks. If anybody has any suggestions as to what cichlids I should add (trying to stay with peacocks) I'd love to hear them! Feedback on the setup is also appreciated :).
So here it is...

Tank looks good, except for the no cover part. I have never kept peacocks before and I dont know about their jumping tendency but i have lost quite a few cichlids to small holes on top of my tank. Now i cover everything even the little spaces for the filters.

I'd definitely get a lid on that tank, I had cichlids jump out during times I've had no lid on the tank for extended periods

k, thanks for the heads up. I just went digging around and found a screen that fits almost perfectly. if i were looking to add some blue and yellow to the tank(fish wise) what would you guys suggest?

how big is the tank? yellow labs are nice. and for blue, i really like blue afras. but i don't want to suggest you get these without asking how big the tank is. you will also probably want more rockwork since caves and crevices become territories. its kinda like with wolves, you have the alpha male and fighting and ranks and female chasing..... its pretty cool, but you gotta have enough territory for everyone

the dimensions of the tank are 4 ft by 18" deep and 16" tall. I entered the dimensions into a converter and got about 60 gallons... i really like the open water idea so i wanted to keep that going as long as i could lol. i do however have a pile of rocks waiting to get put in when the tank gets more fish.
i'm digging those blue afras! how large of a tank is required for the labs and afras?

I have always admired a nice yellow lab and demasoni tank. You could even add in a trio of rusties or acei for a little variation.

As far as afras they are really nice but most females are pretty drab. I keep cynotilapia "white top haras". the females are a dark almost navy blue. They look much nicer than most afra females IMO. I also keep OB zebras and yellow tailed acei.

Also I'm really glad you put a top on it. When I had a plastic hood I use to hear my fish hitting it all the time. I also just saw your first post and noted you wanted peacocks. I can't help you much on those exceot to say labs will most likely work but afra will be too aggressive for the peacocks.

thought I'd give an update on the tank...i got rid of the plants, added some rock and also got 5 more cichlids.
so the tank now holds:
-3 dragonbloods
-2 placidochromis electra
-1 pleco
-1 angelica catfish
-2 hap sp.44
just gotta add about 10 more cichlids and she'll be full:headbang2
and im planning to add some slate and possibly some wood(just contemplating weather or not the wood will be worth the cloudiness...)
so on with the pics!!

How big are the sp.44's......?they are extremely aggressive and will most likely kill your peacocks. I would only try them if they were small in relationship to your peacocks.
