first cycle?

if i put water from an already established tank into a new tank, will it it speed up the cycling????

Answer...Yes.

Better answer... Put some of the old filter material in the new filter. Your not cycling the tank water, your cycling the filter (getting it to grow bacteria).

I haven't had to cycle a tank in years with that method.

I just used old filter media, some established ehfisubstrat and sand from my 125 and my 36 gallon didn't even mini cycle.
