first dibs or first come first serve?

what do you guys think should apply when it comes to selling something on the forum, especially when it comes with someone you have never dealt with? what do you think the criteria should be to allow someone first dibs vs the first to just show up at your door with cash? there are a lot of flakes out there, so keep that in mind.

Depends on what it is. If im selling one of my babys(gar for those who dont know me, lol) then its gonna be the person i can trust not the first person to show up at my door with the cash.

other wise then im just gonna let it go to the first person to come get it.

If I know the person It's dibs. If I don't know the person they have X amount of time to pickup or give me some kind of non-refundable down payment. and if they don't make it in that time it goes back for sale or someone else gets a shot at getting it.

Remember cash is king and don't take peoples word on it that they will buy.

Hell I've even had a guy buy from me we worked out a deal to get the money paypaled to me and I was to ship the items.

I wake up the next day and checked my email and I had like 6 e-mails from paypal. Basically the guy sent me the money then like 2 hours later had buyers remorse and put a hold on the cash and started a claim against me. so I had to give the cash back and not send the item. It was a mess.

yeah i agree - if i know the person it's dibs. otherwise cash is king and first person to arrive at my door or give me a number and a committed frame of time that's ASAP gets the fish. waste less time trying to figure out when people who say they will get something and not have them show up or be completely out of contact.
