Started small at 30 gallons, but im now completely obsessed! Picked up a 45 gallon tall that needs a complete make-over and a gorgeous old 110 tall with 1/2" glass that just needs re-sealing!

Are you using the standard tank frames that you can buy from LFS or are you making your own?

The 30 gallon is frameless and up and cycling. Is this a bad idea? The 110 has a frame but the I ran into an perplexing problem with the 45 tall while removing the old silicone. The bottom slab of glass was elevated and inside the front, back, and side pieces of glass. Normally I thought the side, back, and front pieces rest on the bottom slab? Here's a pic of the 30 gallon ...

with a frame less tank you have to be sure that it is level in all directions if it twist at all it can crack the bottom pane. It looks good, I have made several of my tanks as big as 220gallons. Can I ask what kind of silicone you use?

GE1 is what I use for tanks up to 75 gallons, but for the larger tanks like the 220 I used RVT108 It is very strong. I ordered mine from Grainger.
