Bought a Canon Rebel EOS T1i and these are my first attempt at taking photo's with it. No over head flash I just turned out all the lights in the room pointed and shot. If anyone has any helpful suggestions as far as settings I'd be glad to give them a try as I'm a Noob with DSLR's. In the mean time tell me what you think of my first attempts. :D

I'm not an expert by any streach so no pointers from me. The pictures are great, one hell of a first attempt IMO. Nice job great camera.

Beautiful fish and great shots! :D

Yup, DSLR's can make anyone look like a pro. Lol, sometimes my fish look better in the photo's than in real life.

Really great fish. Heck of a first time! :D

Great shots. A DSLR really makes a difference over a compact.

If you want to go the next step, try getting a prime lens with a small f number (large aperture). Something like a 50mm f1.8. You'll end up not needing flash most of the time, as the aperture is so huge you let so much light through. THis often gives so much more natural lighting and overall contrast to your subject. Picture quality jumps to the next level. These lenses are also awesome for macro and people portraits.
The lens needn't cost a bomb. I'm not familiar with what's available for canons, but for a nikon, a 50mm f1.8 lens is about £100 UKP.

Loving your Hartwegi BTW !!!

Agreed. I just bought the 50mm F1.4 lens. It takes some really sharp photos and can be used pretty much in all low light conditions. Speed light also will help.

Nice pics for ur first attempt.
