Just picked up A little guy at about 1.5" been after one for sometime but never can find ones which show good quality but I think this guy should be A good specimen. Still very skittish what's there growth like, he's in a 30 g with some loaches and plecs for the moment.

Overall their growth is a little slower than regular JD. One of the keys is high protein. I feed mine a variety of NLS 1.0 mm, NLS flake and frozen brine. I also feed mine ocassionally beef heart flakes but many don't recommend it. I have 3 that were about 1 inch when I got them on Jan 4th. My smallest now is about 3 inches and the largest is about 4 1/4 inches.

He's already scoffing hikari sinking pellets, was thinking of maybe adding a normal jd around the same size to help him to settle but he seems fine. Do you have any pics of yours from when they were small to now.

Regular JDs grow faster than EBJDs and adding one the same size as your EBJD could result in the EBJD being picked on and becoming very shy. I would wait to add a JD of 2" until your EBJD is 5".

Ye don't want to stress the little guy out, mite just keep him solo for now. He's having a good time chasing the little loaches around.

They can get stressted easily. Thats probably a good idea. I started with 3 EBJD and and 8 BGJD. The EBJD was slightly larger when I bought them. Ive had them for 6 months and have put most of the BGJD in another tank and took the smaller 2 EBJD in a community tank of non agressive fish. Anyway I have a blog I made on keeping them. It's not been updated lately buy have a lot of info on there. My biggest EBJD is over 4 inches now.
