I had a bichir that ripped an eye out of an iridescent shark on Easter, then finished the job a week later. Didn't even kill the thing either, just blinded it and left it to die.

eyes are easy to eat off fish. If a fish dies often tankmates will eat them. Eyes are the easiest to start with. Since it is floating I would say it died a while ago.
