Hello all. Making a little progress on the 10' plywood build. It's been tough to find time lately with juggling work and my 11 month old daughter. Was able to do some fillets and my first fiberglass seam and am looking for some feedback? How does it look?

I'm using USComposites epoxy resin and biaxial 1708 for the seams. Then changing over to 10oz cloth for the sheathing of the inside. My first attempt as you will see was on a vertical surface and appears I may have had some issue with the resin running out of the cloth, a few dry spots but dont think it's too bad?

I think it looks just fine! You are never going to get a perfect looking seam on the first coat but there is no doubt in my mind that your seam will hold water.

I have laid fiberglass with polyester resin in the past and I can tell you that you made the right choice using the epoxy resin! You are starting out quite far ahead by deciding to go with the epoxy.

Looks Great! Good luck!

Thank you. I did some test pieces on some horizontal board and it was clear as glass! The DBM 1708 is some thick stuff and presents it’s own challenges but the strength it provides is nearly unmatched. The vertical seam I show above was certainly more difficult. I believe I may have been a little stingy on the resin. Next time instead of peel ply after my initial coat I plan to wait for it to tack up and put an additional coat, paying close attention to any dry spots with more resin and a fin roller.

Most hate this process, so far I enjoy it. Using the peel ply limits what i believe would be the worst part sanding.
