First fry...what's the best food?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Most of my newly free swimming fry graze on the aged driftwood in the tank. Newly hatched BBS, Golden pearls and hakari fry food are all good too. I think NLS makes a fry food too, not sure. Are you planning on keeping them with the parents or separating them?

Crush up what you feed the parent s as fine as you can (if you can't get baby brine shrimp) put in a cup or what ever mix it up so It doesn't float and just pour it by the fry

live baby brine will get them eating right away and growing quickly and then you can start to add frozen foods and fry food and crushed pellets.

I've found hikari first bites is quite good for fry , at first my fliter blasted around the tank everywhere as it was in such small grains but I added a little bit of water mixed some into a paste (like ground bait for fishing ) and dropped it in it breaks up again on the bottom of tank so the fry can tuck in no problem.
I'm still yet to try this method with my regular parent pellets such as hikari gold but itll need to be ground up very fine if its to work
Best of luck with your fry op the parents look stunning
