I just picked up my first pair of GT's. I'm assuming they're male and female, as the finnage is different, and they were very aggressively defending the same piece of driftwood from the other gt's in the tank at the lfs. They are about 3" long each. They're a little dark from stress of moving to a new tank, but they were stunning in the store, with vivid blue's on the face, and bright orange/yellow fringe on the fins.

They are in a 125g SA/CA tank with crenicichla, rainbow cichlid, gymnogeophagus, bichir, angelfish, neon jewel, green severum, dragon goby, black ghost knife, and motoro stingray.

Here ya go:

It looks like you have a pair. They are a great fish to keep.

Thanks! I've wanted a gt for a long time now, I just never really saw one (or two) that stood out to me. I've been eying this pair at the lfs for about 3 weeks now, but kept talking myself out of buying them. Then my big male brasiliensis died overnight, I bought them as a feel better present for myself :).

I hope they turn out as nice as I think they will.

great looking pair! Not sure how universal my experience is to others, but I had a pair of the same size. They bred twice for me in a community tank which was unplanned. I just didnt have the space to divide them. Now since I separated them, both have been really slow at growing. His siblings are about twice the size of my pair already.

Is it just me, or do the 2 first pics look like sunken belly?

These pics were literally 20 minutes after I put them in the tank, right after I brought them home from the lfs. I'm not worried about it, and they are both eating very well on pellets, flake, and frozen bloodworms/brineshrimp.

I'll post some updated pics once they're settled in and fully colored up and their fins aren't torn up from stress.

yeah his belly is a bit shallow but i wouldnt worry about it, mine were the same way when i first got them, some good food and they are fat as ever it seems like fish i get from big petstores do tend to have shrunken bellies most the time i think its because they keep so many in the tank together and dont feed enough for everyone to always get enough food, nice looking pair by the way your little male looks almost exactly like mine with the red all in his tail design are the dark dots between his green body scales red as well on mine they are and its quite attractive i think, havent seen that in GTs until i got my male did you get yours from petsmart?
