I have 6 one inch haitians cichlids Ive never kept them and Im just looking for advice. I know they're very prone to bloat and that they need high temps and vegetable based foods but what else?

You should at least give people time to reply before bumping the thread, remember we're all on differernt time zones and have other things to do :)

High temps, spirulina based diet early on, decent water movement, and oxygenation.

I have a breeding pair and about 100 juvies. :D

I had 4 at 2 inches each in a 50 gal tank....2 males and 2 females....
after 3 days one female was killed......I then put one of each of the three in different tanks with different fish and they are now doing well....
they really hate each other when small...............

Congrats finding them haitis are awesome quite rare in my area

i have 8 -2-3 inch grroup in a 75 gallon,82 degrees seems fine for them and they eat everything, never had a problem with bloat.they all get along well i just waiting for a pair to form then i will sell the rest.

:headbang2:headbang2Yeah buddy!! the spawn of Voodoo lives on!! He and his are now deceased due to improper care of his new owner:cry::cry:

But yes John you have a great bloodline and you wont have any probs with your group.
as for the op's question, High O2, great filtration, temp-82-85, dont overfeed as they will eat til they explode. your guy at his size should be in the clear as far as bloat goes. your biggest chanllenge is going to be stress not the food you feed. once the fish is stressed it effects their digestion and then food becomes an issue. there are plenty of threads on here discussing bloat prevention and treatment, all you have to do is search for them:) with that being said congrats and good luck with him.
